Do you wish you knew how to properly and effectively clean your smile? If so, our Zubkov Dental dental team is happy to grant your wish! It’s important to brush your teeth twice a day and floss your smile once a day. To help you correctly perform these tasks, we encourage you to follow these instructions:


Step 1: Start with about 18 inches of floss—it doesn’t matter which product you use. Wind most of the floss around one of your middle fingers and then wind the rest around the same finger on the other hand. Make sure to keep about an inch of floss between your two index fingers with little slack.

Step 2: Use that inch of floss to clean between your teeth. Glide the floss into the crevice between two of your teeth. As you do so, use a gentle sawing motion and scrape the floss along the side of each tooth.

Step 3: When you get to the gumline, curve the floss into a “C” shape. Then, gently send the floss between the gumline and the bottom of the tooth. This will help reduce your chances of falling victim to gum disease.

Step 4: Once you are done cleaning along the gumline, remove the floss from the crevice between the teeth and move onto the next space. However, as you move from tooth to tooth, make sure you use a clean section of floss. It’s important to floss at least once a day.


Step 1: Make sure you have the safest and most effective tools for cleaning your smile. Those are a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. The soft bristles are preferred because they thoroughly clean the teeth and take good care of the gums. The fluoride toothpaste is preferred because the fluoride penetrates the tooth enamel and strengthens your smile.

Step 2: Cover the bristles with the paste and then hold the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gumline. Make sure to use just enough pressure to feel the bristles against the gums and between the teeth. This is important because if you use too much pressure, your gums can become irritated.

Step 3: Now it’s time to scrub your teeth. Use a gentle circular motion to scrub the inner, outer, and top surfaces of each tooth. Make sure you thoroughly clean each tooth and you brush for two minutes twice each day.

Step 4: When you are done brushing your teeth, don’t forget to brush your tongue. This will help you have a clean, fresh breath.
